Getting there & getting ready.
Parking & access
Discover Ireland lists free parking at Inch. The beach is a popular stop, so give yourself extra time on fine-weather and holiday weekends.
Local read
The scale of the strand makes Inch feel less cramped than some town beaches, but that also means you should identify your entry and exit point before paddling out.
Useful facilities.
- Free parking
- Seasonal lifeguards
- Surf lessons
- Board and wetsuit hire
- Food and coffee near the beach
- Long walking beach
- Blue Flag beach
What to watch for.
Inch is a long open beach and conditions can vary from one section to another. Rips can strengthen as swell increases, so beginners should stay in the teaching area and use lifeguard or surf-school advice.
Tide & wind.
Tide
A long strand can look very different as the tide moves. Keep an eye on how far the waterline has moved from your gear and your chosen exit point.
Wind
The peninsula is exposed. Use the live wind direction and gust information alongside the wave height rather than judging the session from the beach alone.
Kingdom Waves
For first-time surfers and anyone unsure about the day’s conditions, a local lesson is the easiest way to learn the safe part of the beach, understand currents and choose suitable equipment.
