Getting there & getting ready.

Parking & access

Pay-and-display parking operates at the Promenade and Liscannor Road car parks. Clare County Council lists all-year charges between 09:00 and 19:00.

Local read

The promenade makes this one of the easiest Irish surf beaches for combining a session with food, coffee and changing facilities. On busy days, arrive early and check where the surf and swimming zones are operating.

Useful facilities.

LOCAL SAFETY NOTE

What to watch for.

Lahinch is exposed to strong waves and currents. A particularly useful local rule: when swell and tide are pushing breaking waves right up to the shoreline rocks, beginners should leave the water rather than wait for conditions to worsen.

Tide & wind.

Wind

Lighter winds usually make the beach easier to read. Use the live onshore/offshore indicator rather than treating a single wind direction as automatically safe.

Ben’s Surf Clinic

For first-time surfers and anyone unsure about the day’s conditions, a local lesson is the easiest way to learn the safe part of the beach, understand currents and choose suitable equipment.
