WIND AT THIS HOUR
Checking wind…
The wind direction will appear here.
Cloud count, shape and drift illustrate wind intensity and direction relative to the beach. It is not a cloud-cover forecast. The sun, birds and sea life are decorative. The wave arrow shows sea-wave direction.

Curved breaking waves are an illustration driven by sea-wave height and period, not a beach-break simulation. Surfers are 1.7 m scale references. Actual breaking surf can differ. Arrows show where waves come from.

BEHIND YOUR FORECAST
From Irish waters.
To your screen.
Two organisations. Four complementary feeds.
One place to read the next 72 hours.
What happens to the data?
We select a nearby sea-model point, align wave and weather readings to the same hourly timeline, convert units and calculate wind orientation relative to the beach. Tide predictions use the stated reference location. We check source freshness and flag missing readings.
This combines complementary datasets; it is not four independent forecasts voting on the surf. Surf Ireland does not run its own wave model or calculate a breaking-wave forecast.
Data sources & forecast notes
Source details appear when the forecast loads.
Wave and tide data: Marine Institute, CC BY 4.0. Wave values are sampled from an identified nearby model sea point, not the breaking surf on the beach.

Met Éireann does not accept any liability whatsoever for any error or omission in the data, their availability, or for any loss or damage arising from their use. Forecasts are guidance, not a confirmation that a beach is safe for surfing. Offshore wind labels describe the wind relative to an approximate beach orientation; they are not a safety rating. Tide reference stations may differ from the beach. Only the next 72 hours are displayed.
